Performance Grade Bitumen (PG)
Performance grade (PG) bitumen represents the latest international standard for classifying bitumen based on temperature conditions suitable for different regions. This relatively new method scientifically evaluates the mechanical properties of bitumen, assigning a specific temperature range to each grade. Consumers can select the appropriate bitumen based on the local climate and project requirements.
Today, both polymer-modified bitumen and pure bitumen are assigned a PG rating according to the standard, reflecting defined temperature and environmental conditions. A wider PG range indicates superior properties and higher durability.
Arka Northwest Refining and Energy Company, equipped with advanced SHARP devices, provides performance-grade bitumen to its customers using this modern methodology. The company has also pioneered the climate zoning of Iran, identifying the most suitable type of bitumen for each region in the country.
